Feeling Behind in Life as an Autistic Person

There’s a fine line between “I wish I could do that” and “I know I physically can’t, nor do I want to do that” which often gets missed, even by me. I’m trying to work things out at a pace I’m comfortable with.

You know where I didn’t learn how to figure people out like that? Anywhere that was not a game. Not in previous jobs, not in books, not in school. I learned these life skills using a table top role playing game (TTRPG), purely by accident.

Keep the Season Bright (Despite Being Light-Sensitive)

I bring a bag of things to do—a book, a journal and pen, a music player and headphones—for when I need to chill out. If I get too overwhelmed, I take a walk in the cold air. When I take enough breaks to disengage, I can enjoy spending time together with large groups of relatives!
